alpine design sleeping bag - the way that dad and his friends used to do it

You may be miles away from home so make sure you prepare for your camping or hiking trip. There is nothing like enjoying the outdoors like a good old camper.

If you are camping in summer you will need a completely different type of tend than if you were camping in the rainy season. Mountain climbing experiences are unpredictable. Some types of apples for instance, are only good for a day or so before they get too mushy, so pack some good, durable snacks.

I admit hiking can be very tough on your legs and back and I have almost not made a few of my hikes. Your handy dandy axe is going to be critical and you need to master the technique before even thinking of climbing. If you will be traveling in the mountains, try bicycling to get ready.

Never use the gas lanterns in the tent. Take the time to find a pair of boots that feel terrific as soon as you put them on. Depending on where you are going and how far you are hiking, you may be quite comfortable in a three-season tent.

If you are new to hiking, it may be a good idea to take some hiking safety classes before going out alone. It is difficult to put into words, but camping is simply amazing.
